Crispy New Cuts: 12/19/17

Crispy New Cuts is an on-going series spotlighting 7 fresh new songs that have recently crossed our path and deserve a bit more shine.

Big Miz "Our House"

Following a trio of EPs for his home label Dixon Avenue Basement Jams, Glasgow’s Big Miz is gearing up to drop his debut album Build/Destroy on January 26th and this lead single is a proper showcase of his infectious nostalgic house jams that encapsulate the label’s mission to put out “Real rockin' raw shit from the street for the clubs.”

Dabrye "Emancipated (feat. Ghostface Killah)"

Dabrye is back! The beloved veteran Michigan producer is bringing his top-shelf beats to blow up big speakers in 2018. He’s completing his trilogy with the upcoming album Three/Three, his first album in 11 years, due out February 16th on Ghostly International.

Guy One "Everything You Do, You Do For Yourself"

Highlife goodness out of northern Ghana from Guy One, a Frafra music star in his home country. This is the lead single off his upcoming debut full-length album #1 that’s coming out January 26th 2018 on the adventurous Philophon Records.

Hanna Benn "Unfasten"

Hanna Benn is no stranger within the Seattle music community, and it’s due time for her to break out on a larger scale as a solo artist. As a graduate of the Cornish College of the Arts, co-founder of beloved experimental pop band Pollens, and a frequently in-demand collaborator, she’s made her presence known locally with her stunning voice and intricate compositions. Recently working with experimental artist Son Lux and touring with Beyoncé collaborator Boots, she’s now based in Atlanta and just announced her upcoming solo debut EP DIVIDE due out January 19th 2018 on Son Lux’s This Is Meru label.

Midheaven "3-2-1"

Do you love the 80s as much as Midheaven? Doubtful, based on how “3-2-1” (off the self-titled Midheaven EP) and its video perfectly captures the decade’s grainy VHS footage feel and massive synth-pop sound. The love for the 80s is very real with Midheaven, a new project of Seattle’s Leah Rosen.

NADINE "Not My Kinda Movie"

This second single to emerge off the upcoming debut album oh my from Minneapolis/NYC band NADINE is a low-key gem that’s got us salivating for the record, due out via Father/Daughter Records on January 26th.

The Prids "Mangled Hearts"

Veteran Portland band The Prids have been roaming the underground and churning out rock-solid indie pop that blends dream-pop and shoegaze for over 2 decades now, and this new single from their upcoming 4th album Do I Look Like I’m In Love? – due out January 12th via This-A-Way Records – serves as a nice reminder or introduction to their accomplished sound.
